DDA likely to refund registration money within a month

After holding the draw of lots for its mega scheme on 25th November, 2014, the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) is taking concrete steps to refund the registration fee of Rs 1 Lakh to all the unsuccessful applicants within one month. Although guidelines permit DDA to refund the registration money within 90 days grace period, the Housing Authority is leaving no stone unturned to refund the amount in a months time.

However, in unforeseen circumstances if there is a delay in rolling out the refund even after 90 days, the civic body has agreed to pay a simple interest of 8% per annum on the deposit amount. In its previous Housing Schemes the DDA had taken three months or more to refund the entire registration amount to all the unsuccessful applicants.

A total of 10,08,700 applications were received by the Housing Authority for its ambitious 2014 Housing Scheme which was launched on September 1. The Housing Authority for the first time had webcast the entire draw of lots event live after randomization of the data. The 2014 Housing Scheme was DDA's most ambitious and largest housing scheme as it had put 25,034 flats on offer.
